Synopsis

By using the saga of the renowned Czech com poser, Antonin Dvorak, and based on the powerful romantic undertones of his works, Mia Sperber, whose ancestors lived in 17th century Prague, tells the story of Antonin's infatuation with the beautiful mermaid Rusalka, who lived in the mythical Czech river Vltava. In an atmosphere of intense drama and dream, Mia shows how a superior sentiment of love, as well as an aspiration for eternal harmony, could act in one's life as potent vehicles for creativity and fulfillment.

A magical world in which love between a man and woman can transcend boundaries of the mortal, temporary realm and cross the bridge to a land which is entirely tenderness, peace and harmony, the realm of Divine perfection.

Join us and meet the exciting main characters revolving in this special universe that is driven by phenomenal music.


It is an era of rich creativity. In their hearts, the unforgettable characters harbor knowledge, hope and desire to improve their existence, as well the world in which they live. Mainly, they carry a dream of infinite and eternal perfection which guides their lives and fills them with magic and purpose, despite fierce opposition.

Main Characters

Rusalka


Exceedingly beautiful, clever, passionate and intuitive, she belongs to the maidens who from times immemorial are believed to make their homes in lakes, rivers and seas, enflaming popular imagination. In her special, haunting way, Rusalka brings forward overpowering, passionate emotions and mystery.

Antonin Dvorak


Musical genius, composer of original pieces of incredible melodic content. A taciturn man, who hides an inner volcano. Magnificently connected to nature, he is a lover of birds, rivers and forests and includes their sounds in his musical works.


He is also obsessed by trains and steamboats, which are for him symbols of journey, distance and future. When his love for the capricious Josefine is

Rejected, he marries her sister, Anna, but continues a life-long search for his soulmate. Highly spiritual and attuned to the world which surrounds him, Antonin offers a complex, powerful and unforgettable image.

Anna


Antonin's wife and mother to eight children. The epitome of devotion. Strong character adjusting valiantly to her husband's moods, despite enormous frustrations.



Josefine


Anna's older sister. Attractive, fickle and emotional, she throws Antonin into a whirlpool of love and deception.



Tchaikovsky


Antonin's great friend, the Russian composer astonishes by his endless creativity and gentleness, in a life which for him is full of torture and pain . He shares with Antonin a great degree of sensitivity and vulnerability when faced with cruel antagonism.



Brahms


The towering image of Johannes Brahms leaves one in owe of his lavish musical output, as well as of his immense generosity towards his student and protege, Antonin.

Nature


Natue is a strong character in this movie. Its perennial presence infuses the story with an amazing cinematographic dimension.


Forests and fields, rivers and lakes, and the beutiful moon shining above all. Bohemia's beloved natural backdrop is so close to Antonin's heart and inspires his wors to such a degree that while working in America he cannot wait to return home. Not to forget that the composer's interaciton with his beloved birds makes them proper inspirational characters in the movie.

Music

The golden thread of "RUSALKA", its heart and its soul, is the music.


An original score is planned to be composed by a multi-awarded A list composer, and includes songs based on lyrics written by Mia Sperber. 

That will mingle splendidly with Antonin Dvorak's unforgettable harmonies.
